Text Case Converter

Free extension for Chrome

A text case converter in your right-click menu

Select text in any field, right-click and pick a case: UPPER CASE, lower case, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase or snake_case. The text changes in place, so you never paste it into a converter site and back.

  • lower case

Every letter small: tidy up shouting, tags and email addresses.

  • Title Case

The first letter of every word capital, the rest small.

  • Sentence case

Each sentence starts with a capital, the rest is small.

  • camelCase

  • snake_case

    Words joined with underscores: user_account_name.

  • Only the cases you use

Untick a case in the popup and it leaves the right-click menu at once. The choice syncs to your other computers.

  • Any alphabet with capitals

Latin, accented letters, Cyrillic, Greek. camelCase and snake_case keep letters and digits of any language.

Why Chrome can't change the case of text

Right-click inside a text field in Chrome and you get cut, copy, paste and spelling, but nothing for capitals. The usual way round is to copy the text into a case converter website, convert it, copy the result and paste it over the old version: a second tab and five steps for every heading.

Text Case Converter adds the missing submenu. It changes only the selection inside the field you are editing and leaves the rest of your writing alone. It knows letter case and nothing else: it doesn't fix spelling or punctuation, and its Title Case follows the simple rule of a capital on every word, “of” and “the” included.

Private by design

  • No account

Nothing to sign up for, nothing to log in to.

  • Your text stays on the page

The conversion happens inside the tab. No servers, no analytics, no clipboard access.

  • Page access, used on request

The extension can reach any page so it works in the field you are in, and it does nothing until you pick a case. It stores only your menu choices.

Questions

How do I change selected text to uppercase or lowercase in Chrome?

Chrome has no built-in command for it. With Text Case Converter, select the text in a field, right-click, open “Text Case Converter” and choose UPPER CASE or lower case.

How do I fix text typed with caps lock on?

Select it and choose Sentence case: each sentence starts with a capital and the rest turns small. Names in the selection turn small too, so fix those by hand.

How do I convert a phrase to camelCase or snake_case?

Select the phrase in any field and choose camelCase or snake_case. Spaces and punctuation are dropped, letters and digits are kept: “user account name” becomes userAccountName or user_account_name.

Does Title Case keep small words like “of” and “the” lowercase?

No. Title Case here capitalizes every word, small words included, and turns the other letters small. Fix the few words that should stay small afterwards.

Can I change the case of text that isn't in a text box?

No. The menu appears only in editable fields: inputs, text areas and editable regions of a page. Paste ordinary page text into a field first.

Does it keep bold, links and other formatting?

No. In rich editors the converted words become plain text. Undo (Ctrl+Z) may not bring back the old version in every field, so keep a copy of anything long.

How do I hide the cases I never use?

Click the toolbar icon and untick them. They leave the right-click menu at once, and the choice follows you to your other computers through Chrome sync.

Is it free? Does it see what I type?

It's free, with no account. The conversion runs inside the page, nothing you type is sent anywhere, and the extension acts only when you pick a case.

Fix the case in place.
